On April 24th, the “Independent, Controllable, and Beyond Leading – China’s First 300-Tonne ‘Weichai Heart’ Mining Truck Reliable Operation 18,000 Hours Milestone” witnessing event was held in Zhungeer Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia.
This is a major achievement of collaborative innovation between Shandong Heavy Industry Weichai Group and Guoneng Zhuneng Group, marking a breakthrough in China’s 300-tonne independently controllable large-scale mining truck powertrain.
The event was attended by leaders from Shandong Heavy Industry Group, Guoneng Zhuneng Group, Weichai Group, industry associations, research institutions, major mining enterprises, equipment companies, mining industry experts, partners, and mainstream media. Together, they witnessed this historic moment in China’s large-scale mining power industry.

China’s Mining Equipment Is Equipped With a “Chinese Heart”
Energy security is the “greatest of nations”. The technology content and industrial barriers of large-scale mining power are extremely high, and for a long time, the market share of independent brands has been almost zero.
Faced with difficulties, Weichai and Guoneng Zhuneng Group, guided by national strategy, opened the prelude to the breakthrough of domestically produced large-scale mining power. They ultimately achieved the hard-core result of independent and controllable 300-tonne mining engines.
After a comprehensive and multidimensional special acceptance review, the expert group unanimously agreed that the 300-tonne mining truck equipped with the Weichai 12M55 engine had undergone 18,000 hours of continuous practical testing under heavy-load and high-intensity continuous operation conditions in mines.
The engine’s performance has reached the industry’s advanced level, fully meeting the long-term high-intensity operation needs of large mining equipment. China’s mining equipment finally has a “Chinese heart.”
The Core System Is Completely Autonomous and Controllable

As the benchmark for China’s first 300-tonne mining truck powertrain, the core system of the 12M55 engine is completely autonomous and controllable.
The exclusive ECU electronic control system can be optimized and customized for calibration at any time, while the ultra-high-pressure common rail closed-loop control system can achieve precise control of the fuel system.
At present, Weichai mining truck power meets the demand for 100-tonne to 400-tonne mining trucks. It can perfectly adapt to various operation scenarios in large and ultra-large open-pit mines, and can provide complete replacement solutions for all series of vehicle models according to customer needs.
Weichai has also established a dedicated service system for the entire life cycle of the mining industry, ensuring efficient delivery and equipment operation.
The company has laid out mining service bases and spare parts centers nearby, helping mining enterprises achieve a win-win situation of safety, controllability, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement through optimal guarantee policies, sufficient spare parts reserves, complete training empowerment, flexible guarantee systems, and full life-cycle protection.
During the event, the attending guests visited the Guoneng Zhuneng mining area and observed representative models of high-end mining power products such as Weichai 16M33, 12M55, and 16M55 on site.
Through the actual working conditions of two in-use mining trucks, they intuitively felt the stable performance of the “Weichai Heart” power.
